La Porte County Habitat for Humanity

The organization operates on the principle of "a hand up, not a handout," requiring homeowners to contribute sweat equity by participating in the construction of their own homes and the homes of others. In addition to building houses, Habitat for Humanity advocates for policies that promote affordable housing and works to create sustainable communities.
