Day Care Center and Preschool Spending-to-Income Ratio

Select a Zip Code
Measurement Period: 2024
This indicator shows the ratio between the average spending among households that spent on day care and the median household income in the selected location. This includes spending on day care centers, nursery, and preschools.

Why is this important?

Quality child care and early childhood education contributes to child health and development (Healthy People 2030). Access to affordable and high-quality child care, including early child care is essential for parents or guardians to be able to provide for basic needs such as housing, food, and health care. Affordable child care also allows parents or guardians to pursue further education or participate in the workforce, which can improve opportunities and benefits for the household (County Health Rankings).
